Charming French Vintage Red Milk Warmer with side handle.
Enamelware with an exotic peacock and floral decor.
Purchased in France; made in the 1950's
In good condition with minor chips (please see the photos for details).
The inside is, of course, enameled as well in white making a crisp contrast to the red exterior.
This stovetop milk warmer design was used for warming and reheating milk mainly, but other beverages as well, such as tea and coffee. The side handle allowed for easy pouring into cups. Pots like this have been part of the everyday French kitchen for centuries. Coffee with milk would have been prepared every morning for breakfast and then, hot cocoa, coffee and tea for 4pm snack and coffee again in the evening.
I am always here if you have questions.
